Diagnostic ultrasound can be used to assess a variety of problems of the musculoskeletal system such as tendinitis, tendon or ligament tears, joint effusions, arthritis, lumps and bumps, different types of hernias etc.
Shoulder:
Can identify rotator cuff pathologies – partial or full thickness tears, bursal abnormality or tendinosis.
Wrist/Hand:
For the assessment of tenosynovitis, De Quervene, osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis, tendinitis.
Elbow:
For assessment of lateral (Tennis elbow) or medial (Golfer’s elbow) epicondylitis, olecranon bursitis, joint effusion.
Hip:
For bursitis and capsular thickening
Knee:
Diagnosis of joint effusion, bursal abnormality, Baker’s cysts, meniscal or ligament injuries.
Ankle:
For the assessment of Achilles tendon tear or inflammation, sprained or torn ligaments, joint effusion or arthritis.
Foot:
For the assessment of Morton`s neuroma, arthritis, tendinosis, fibromatosis and plantar fasciitis.
